There is a total of 14 private, luxury chalets, each en suite with air-conditioning and a private deck. Five of the chalets offer great views of the ocean and Inhaca Island and the others are grouped into villas (see next paragraph). All chalets are connected with walkways and staircase to the main buildings on the beach.

Two beach villas with 4 detached rooms, each right on the beach with en suite bedrooms and a private deck with partial sea views and only a few meters from the beach. Each beach villa also has a private swimming pool, large decks and a boma type fire area - ideal to take up to 8 adults and 6 children. There is a private central lounge & dining area with a bar, kitchen prep area where your private chef will create delicious meals.

There are also 2 family villas with 2 en suite bathrooms, joined under one roof by a large lounge area. Ideal for families with younger children and sleeps a combination of 4 adults plus 2 children or 3 adults and 4 children. Great views of Inhaca Island and the ocean. There is a private deck, lounge and dining area and beach access via wooden walkways. Rates can include a private chef.

The main lodge area includes a large lounge area with sea views and a bar and dining area. Tucked behind the main building is a boma area with its cosy fireplace which lends to sharing the excitement of the days adventures!

Activities from Machungulo Beach Lodge vary and you can do as little as lie on the beach all day or try your hand at some big game fishing! You can also enjoy snorkelling in the Inhaca Marine Reserve or in front of the lodge. There is also scuba diving and if this is too 'aquatic' for your liking then there are guided tours of Inhaca Island, or a cultural tour of Santa Maria or an exploration of the Maputo Bay estuaries.

There is also a spa where you will be able to enjoy a range of treatments from the comfort of your own room until the main spa area is completed.

Access to Machangulo Beach Lodge is via a boat transfer from Maputo to the lodge. There are daily direct flights from Johannesburg to Maputo, or this can be included into a holiday with Kruger and we can arrange a road transfer to Maputo for you.
