Essaouira is the place that we get the best feedback from our clients. It has a genuine year round climate, it is enough “off the beaten track” to still feel intimate and it has a wonderful selection of places to stay in the town itself or in the villages just outside. Visit between 29-01/07 and take part in the Gnaoua Festival. Reflecting African identity at its fullest, Gnaoua is a carnival like no other, with festival-goers dancing round Essaouira’s charming squares and labyrinth streets in a dazzling celebration of times past, present and future.
DAY 1 - ARRIVE AND STRAIGHT TO THE COAST
Arrive at Essaouira airport where your driver will meet you and take you straight to Rebali. There is great food and the staff soon feel more like family members (have a look at the Tripadvisor reviews). You can stay in a room or suite but the best bet is to have a private villa.More Info
DAY 2 - Visit the Gnaoua Festival
Gnaoua Festival is a jazz, pop, rock, soul and contemporary world music festival in Morocco. Rooted in traditional North African culture, Gnaoua welcomes a diverse and unique selection of artists to the port city of Essaouira each year.
For three days the city comes alive, bustling with markets, street performances, walkabout theatre and much, much more in an explosion of vibrancy and colour.
DAY 3 - GET BUSy
There is so much to do at Rebali and the surrounding area you will struggle to fit it all in and many people choose a week or more just here. A visit to Essaouira is essential for shopping or an evening meal – also:
– Quad bike tour of the dunes
– Moroccan cooking demonstrations
– Camel trekking on the beach
– Amazing horse riding
– Surfing and kitesurfing lessons
– Visits to the local Berber village for lunch
And if this is too much rushing around send your partner on a tortoise/chameleon hunt in the Rebali gardens and relax by the pool or sneak a visit to the spa…
DAY 4 - Head for Home
Your driver will collect you at your riad for the short trip back to the airport and your flight home, assuming you manage to get all your souvenirs and memories within your baggage allowance….
