For those wanting to wake early and walk the trails of Mulu or participate in a night walk, staying within the park is an excellent choice. Rooms are simply decorated providing a respite from the high heat and humidity of this lush rainforest.

Garden Bungalows have outdoor sitting areas, one double bed, and one single bed. The new Rainforest Lodge rooms have two single beds and small balconies. The larger Longhouse rooms are ideal for families. Two rooms offer four single beds while the Longhouse Family Suites have one double bed and three single beds each in addition to a sitting area. Longhouse rooms share a communal balcony. All rooms have both air conditioning and ceiling fans.

Meals are available at Café Mulu and a few local restaurants can be found just outside the park entrance. Café Mulu serves local Sarawakian and Malay dishes along with a few western dishes. A small shop sells basic groceries for those trekking to the Summit or Pinnacles. The Mulu Discovery Centre, accessible to all visitors of the Park, provides information on the biological and geological features of the park along with a few video presentations. Mobile phone reception is quite limited and WiFi is available at the Café and reception area for a small daily fee.

While guides are required to enter the caves of Mulu, a number of walking trails can be enjoyed on self-guided walks. These include Paku Waterfall where one can take a refreshing dip, the Tree Top Tower, ideal for early morning bird watching, and a boardwalk trail to Deer Cave where one can sit outside at dusk and wait for thousands of bats to emerge on their nightly hunt. A short boat ride up the river can be arranged for anyone wanting to swim in the clean waters outside Clearwater Cave.
