Committed to preserving the waters and resources of Gaya Island, Gayana Marine Resort is a luxurious, marine-friendly choice only a 15-minute boat ride from Kota Kinabalu.

Refurbished in 2023, all villas are generously sized and tastefully decorated with big balconies. Spacious Rainforest Villas face the tropical forest and rolling hills of Gaya Island. These have one king bed. Ocean Villas look out over the South China Sea with panoramic views and steps from the balcony straight into the water. For a romantic morning, breakfast can be served on the balcony, delivered by boat from the restaurant. For families, the Breeze Villa offers a sitting area with sofa bed and day bed, two bathrooms, and a bedroom with king bed. The decadent Palm Villa has a private plunge pool, outdoor hammocks, steps leading into the sea, a glass floored sitting area for views of the water below, and sumptuous decor. This large villa has two inside sitting areas in addition to the spacious balcony with sun loungers and a table perfect for breakfast for two.

Echo Wellness Spa offers a full array of treatments, most with ocean views. Macac Restaurant serves Western fusion with a Malaysian twist while Latitude Bar is an ideal spot for a sundowner, high above the South China Sea. Seafood is sourced from the sustainable Bayu Aquaculture Fish Farm and produce comes from a certified organic garden.

An onsite dive centre caters to divers of all levels including those wishing to try it for the first time or become certified divers. MERC, the Marine Ecology Research Centre, offers a unique glimpse into the work of marine preservation. Among other projects, the Centre has a Giant Clam Restocking Programme and visitors can see a variety of these beautiful clams. Guests can participate in replanting coral and learn about the various initiatives from the Centre's staff. All funds generated from activities at Gayana Dive Centre are dedicated to the MERC's initiatives.

Snorkeling, paddle-boarding, kayaking are available. Please note there is no beach at Gayana Marine Resort.
