Once a traditional family home, the Residence Sisouk oozes colonial charm and period features with large spacious rooms.

This 1950s original Lao house has been carefully restored and renovated with ample use of traditional dark woods, complemented by stylish Lao textiles and furnishings. Built by Sisouk Sisombat, his wife and children decided to turn the house into a hotel after he died because it felt a little empty without him.

They put their heart into this project and the efforts have paid off; this really feels like a home from home. Everything from the long sweeping bannisters to the historic photos and memorabilia on the walls; it is perfect for those who love a touch of history on their holidays.

The spacious rooms offer comfortable accommodation and most are complete with private balcony overlooking the rivers. They are all handsomely appointed with rich dark wooden floors, cream walls which allow plenty of light into the rooms and colonial style fans.

There are three types of rooms available; the standard are better suited to single travellers as the space is a little tighter - there is also less light as there is just a small, frosted glass internal window. The Superior are very comfortable, a great size and most have balconies, whilst the deluxe are extremely spacious with a large corner balcony and could easily fit three people in them.

It’s worth mentioning that the lift is as old as the house itself and is one of those old-fashioned types with a cage door and probably takes longer to use than it would take to climb the stairs (there are five floors).

On the top floor is a lovely restaurant and bar that offers splendid views over Pakse. Unfortunately this is closed for lunch and dinner but it is where you will take your breakfast in the mornings. Service and the overall ambiance is typically southern Laotian, (laid back, informal, and sometimes a bit haphazard, but always with a welcoming smile!).

Bicycles are available for guests to use to explore Pakse at your own pace.
