A charming boutique hotel set around quaint, large lotus ponds and luscious tropical gardens with one of the best restaurants in town.

This is a is sparkling little gem of a hotel and we make no shame in confessing that Maison Dalabua is one of our favourite spots in the gorgeous town of Luang Prabang. Set in beautiful gardens with large lotus ponds and a swimming pool - as well as having one of the best restaurants in town, it’s hard to drag yourself away from this peaceful oasis - but make sure you do as there is lots to see in Luang Prabang!

Although the property is located about 10 minutes by foot from the centre of Luang Prabang, tuk tuks are reasonably priced and readily available and the hotel also offers complimentary bicycle use. It is also worth noting that no hotels in the ancient town have swimming pools so this is actually one of the better located hotels with a pool.

Colonial flair and Asian touches adorn the guestrooms at Maison Dalabua. All its rooms are spacious, modern and comfortable boasting a warm colour scheme, the choice of double or twin beds and a contemporary bathroom with rain shower. All rooms have a flat screen cable TV, a minibar, a small safe for valuables and a tea/coffee maker. We love the finishing touches like the hand-made woven art work (made by the owner) that adorn the walls (and are actually available to buy too!)

There are a variety of rooms to choose from although we think the Grand Deluxe, Grand Deluxe Heritage, and Overwater Bungalows are the ones to consider. Simple Classic rooms don't have any sort of view or outdoor space while Deluxe rooms have a small terrace. Grand Deluxe rooms have delightful views with a private terrace with either a pool or pond view, either one a delight to wake up to! Grand Deluxe Heritage rooms are a bit bigger and are the only rooms with bathtubs. The Bungalows are the largest rooms and have private terraces over the gorgeous lotus-filled pond.

Certain rooms can connect on the balconies so that families can get to one another without traipsing through a corridor.

The restaurant Manda de Laos is one of the best in Luang Prabang - here you can dine under the stars surrounded by a UNESCO classified lotus pond and enjoy a Laotian Family cuisine from all regions of Laos. The setting is pretty magical and worth visiting even if you are not staying here. Reservations are strongly recommended! We think the breakfast is one of the best in the city, too with everything homemade and an ever-changing selection that means each morning can start a little differently.

The hotel offers free use of bicycles to its guests which gives you the freedom to visit the town whenever you want, at your own pace. Friendly and helpful front desk staff are fluent in English and are ready to go above and beyond to help the guests.
