There is nowhere else on earth quite like Kinondo Kwetu. Just 1 ½ hours south of Mombasa and a short ride from Ukunda airstrip, it is an absolutely heavenly beach retreat; stylish, luxurious, relaxed, environmentally aware. There is no noise, no crowds, no trinket sellers on the beach – in fact there’s hardly anyone on the beach. Bliss!

The resort has accommodation for no more than 38 guests which means that you can always find your own secluded spot along the beach or tucked away beneath the palm trees. The rooms are so stylish it’s untrue. Each has its own character and all are furnished and decorated with Swahili handicrafts and antiquities. All double rooms are equipped with comfortable king size beds and all rooms have fans and mosquito nets.

There are plenty of quiet, beautiful spots where you can retire to spend time with yourself or in company, in the library or in one of the gorgeous living rooms. Or outside, in one of the water towers, where you can watch the sun set over the mountains, on a cliff by the sea or in any of the secluded spots you find in the area.

Although Kinondo Kwetu is the ideal place for simply doing nothing at all, it offers exciting possibilities for all adventurers, young and old. In the grounds there are two swimming pools, one of them with a depth that allows training for PADI diving certificate, three horses, and a tennis court. There is an 18 hole golf course just 15 minutes away, where you can rent clubs. Kinondo Kwetu’s dhow and outriggers are out on the water, waiting to take you sailing. Explore the vast coral reefs by scuba diving or snorkelling or by boat. Try your hand at deep sea fishing or learn to kite surf. Of course if you don’t feel like doing anything at all there is always the spa and sauna!

Kinondo Kwetu is more than happy to arrange excursions along the coast to nearby islands and up a river looking for crocodiles. And if you want to see wildlife like elephant, giraffe, buffalo, antelope, and other African animals in the wild, Shimba Hills National Park is only a short drive away. A visit to Kinondo village and a daytrip into Mombasa will give you the spectrum of life in Kenya. Staff will gladly drive you to both places.

Kinondo Kwetu is renowned for its cuisine, which benefits from locally produced fruits and vegetables. Three-course lunches and dinners are served al fresco, with fresh fish and seafood being natural favourites. Children and special dietary requirements are well catered for.

As well as individual room bookings, Kinondo Kwetu is happy to accommodate larger groups. There are two kitchens in two separate buildings, making it possible for two groups or 10 to 20 to share the resort.

This is a place you will never want to leave.
