This beautiful hotel oozes character and charm, blending Khmer traditions and French colonial style to perfection. The eight completely unique rooms are located in two buildings around a good-sized swimming pool, each guaranteeing ample space but with a cosy stylish decor that will make it hard to leave.

French owned, the hotel feels more like an extended, rambling house full of nooks and crannies. It offers guests some rather wonderfully quirky services including a free daily barber's shave for men and one free facial for women during their stay.

There are four types of rooms, the Junior Suites, l'Appart, Villa Samar and Villa Fou-Nan, which is just over the road.

The Junior Suites are incredibly spacious, with large King sized (or twin) beds, a sitting area, extensive en-suites (many of which have old Victorian pedestal bath tubs as well as large rain showers), and some also have a private terrace. You could opt for the Japanese style Junior Suite with its low sunken bed on a deep wooden platform - or take the oriental themed suite with the gorgeous cushion-scattered-bed-like sitting area that is curtained off from the main room. Whatever you choose expect luxurious dark wooden furniture, beautifully tiled bedrooms and adorable finishing touches.

L'Appart is ideal for families - it opens onto a living room with doors going off each side into a double room and twin room, each with its own en-suite. Meanwhile, Villa Samar stands in its own building to the right of the pool and offers a vast amount of space. A huge four-poster bed sits in the middle of the large room, which is also decorated with a stylish chaise lounge. It has a shower and old Victorian pedestal bath outside as well as a separate shower indoors. It also has a large private terrace with sun beds.

The Villa Fou-Nan is a traditional Khmer house set over the road with a large designer living area with art deco table and chairs and a deep sofa. It also has its own balcony.

The Fou-Nan restaurant over the road from the main house is widely popular with outside guests and offers a fantastic range of Asian fusion and Khmer dishes. It also hosts regular traditional Apsara shows. There is a cosy seating and dining area as you walk into the main building, near the pool, where guests can enjoy a variety of dishes and snacks. Breakfast can be served anywhere.

The on-spa site offers a great selection of treatments in luxuriously appointed rooms. Meanwhile the library area has a comprehensive range of literature and documentation about the nearby temples.

The hotel is about 1km from Angkor Wat and about 1.5km from Siem Reap town - but a free tuk-tuk service is run into town every day.
