Raffles offers unrivaled luxury in Phnom Penh. Nowhere else blends historic charm and luxury like this long-standing hotel, which has been firmly on the city map since 1929. Historically the choice of royalty this hotel oozes tradition and tranquility, despite a fairly central location.

With five classical restaurants and bars, a spa and a gym, beautiful landscaped gardens and two swimming pools, it is the perfect place to relax after a long day in the city. Ideal for both families and couples, one pool is a family fun pool, and the second is a length pool.

The hotel has eight different rooms and suites - everything from the State Rooms right up to the Le Royal Suite, depending on your needs. All have air conditioning, complimentary internet access, en-suite with a shower and satellite TV.

You can choose from the following rooms:

State Rooms: Recently renovated double rooms overlooking the tropical gardens or swimming pools, with a balcony.

Personality Suites: Four slightly bigger suites named after famous dignitaries who once stayed at the hotel, decorated with relevant memorabilia and artefacts. They include the Jacqueline Kennedy Suite, the Charles de Gaulle Suite, the Somerset Maugham Suite and the Andre Malraux Suite.

Le Royal Suite: On the fourth floor, with a private butler, this has two bedrooms, a dining room, a large living room and a fully- equipped pantry.

Landmark Suites: A spacious living room and bedroom with sleigh bed and decorated in original antiques and artwork. The bathroom also contains an original claw- footed bathtub and a private balcony. Private butler included.

Landmark Rooms: Furnished with a blend of Cambodian and art deco themes, these double rooms also have a private butler.

Executive Suites: A large bedroom and separate sitting room and Kitchenette with a private butler, these are perfect for those requiring space and comfort.

Colonial Suites: Recently refurbished, these suites have private balconies, a walk-in wardrobe and vintage furnishings.

Balcony Suites: These new corner suites overlook the poolside and garden, each with a private balcony and shutters separating the bedroom from the bathroom.

People travel across the city to visit the hotel's renowned bars and restaurants. Its cocktail bar, the Elephant Bar. is one of the most historical and fashionable bars in town. Meanwhile a buffet and extensive a-la-carte menu is served at its restaurant Caf Monivong, while drinks and light snacks are served at the poolside terrace.

Restaurant Le Royal is the hotel's fine dining option offering French and Khmer cuisine in an elegant environment. Meanwhile, the delights of the pastry chef can be tasted at La Phnom over a coffee or two.

Our tip: Go for the State Room with a pool view and you won't be disappointed but if you want to be in the original and older building we recommend Landmark Room (again pool view is best).
