There are only 7 spacious tents, all en suite with their own shower and toilet. Rooms are apart from each other for privacy and each have a viewing deck. There is also an opportunity to do a 'sleep out' for one of the nights during your stay - on a raised platform with a mosquito netting. For single travellers it is possible to waiver the 'single supplement' if you prepared to share the room.

The main lodge areas offer a 'mess tent' where everyone congregates as well as a private pool to cool off in the day. There is a comfortable area to relax and curl up with a book or the evenings a camp fire sets the tone to share the days adventures.

Macatoo Camp is ideally suited to the more experienced riders, however 'non riders' can also join as there is plenty to keep everyone occupied and guides will take you on a mokoro exploring the channels of the Delta, game drives to view the prolific game life as well as seasonal boating and fishing (catch & release).

The main attraction of your stay here is to enjoy a horse safari and with a herd of over 40 horses to choose from, there is a horse for everyone! The riding is varied with walking, stalking big game, enjoying the surrounds and sometimes cantering through the watery meadows of the Delta. Experience the thrill of galloping alongside giraffe or getting close up to elephants or even wild dog!

We recommend a 6-7 night stay to be the ideal time to really experience all that the Delta has to offer and enough time to include a sleep out in a mobile camp. However if you are short on time then a minimum of 3 nights will certainly give you a great riding safari. There is a choice of trail or English saddles and you will need to bring your own riding gear, including helmet as these are not provided.

Your stay is inclusive of all meals, safari activities and local drinks. Laundry is also included on a daily basis, however washing powder is included in your tents as in Botswana you need to wash your own 'delicates'.

Access to the camp is possible with daily flights from Johannesburg to Maun and from here you will take a smaller plane flight (very scenic) to the camp in the Delta. If you are connecting from Vic Falls, then you will take a transfer to Kasane and from here take a flight to Macatoo Camp. Do speak to us about the best way to include into your safari holiday.

Macatoo Camp is situated on the western side of the Okavango Delta. Covering 17,000 km sq, the Okavango is the largest inland delta in the world, a mix of labyrinth channels, palm fringed islands and fertile floodplains. Trapped in the parched sands of the Kalahari desert, it is a magnet for the wildlife who depend on the delta's life giving waters. More than 400 species of resident and migrant birds, lions, elephant, hyenas, wild dog, buffalo, hippo and crocodiles congregate with a variety of antelope and smaller animals - warthog, mongoose, genets, monkeys and bush babies to name a few.
