Head away from the crowds to this unspoilt east coast resort in Candidasa, where modern European shapes meet open, tropical design. Demonstrating creative function, elegant luxury and pure well-being, outdoors meets indoors throughout this boutique hotel. Bali's perfect ocean views are captured from four two-storey buildings built around a palm-fringed pool, ideally demonstrating simple forms and Balinese touches.

Days at Alila Manggis are filled with activity and regeneration, pampering at Spa Alila, and pursuits by the sea such as discovering East Bali's legendary dive sites. This is the life, East Bali style.

Alila Manggis' breathtaking location between the sea and Bali's sacred Mount Agung inspired a seamless concept for the resort by its designers at Kerry Hill Architects, with free-flowing interaction between the buildings and surrounding nature. A traditional alang alang thatched roof covers the lobby, beautifully offset by polished ivory and coloured concrete floors. A latticed screen of diagonally laid stones is a feature at each end of the lobby.

Four two-storey buildings of cool white stone, lit up in geometric beams of warm tones after dark, house the guestrooms. Each block is a skilful execution of traditional and contemporary Balinese architecture, set at a 45? angle to the beach, allowing all rooms and suites a view of the sea and the resort's centrally featured pool.

Dining
by a neighbouring organic salt farm, our Seasalt Restaurant is set in a traditional Balinese pavilion on a lotus pond. Serving both a contemporary menu and a range of Indonesian and Balinese favourites, Seasalt is also an integral part of the Alila Manggis Cooking School. Elegant and relaxed, the restaurant looks out on to the ocean and the resort's beautifully landscaped grounds. Guests can also enjoy poolside or garden dining, set beneath the tranquil coconut grove. The organic garden nearby also presents a 'surprisingly different' dining option.

Alila Spa
From facials to aromatherapy massages, the spa experiences are presented in the haven of two outdoor spa bales located right on the grounds of the Pandan Forest, facing the sea, allowing nature to soothe you towards total relaxation.
