Fitzroy Island is an unspoiled tropical paradise of rainforest and beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Fitzroy Island is a National Park, discover spectacular walking trails, abundant marine life, and local wildlife. The island, listed as National Park, features distinctive granite outcrops, open woodlands, tropical rainforest and mangroves.

Fitzroy resort has 99 rooms and is the only resort on the island. The resort was completed to the highest standards and opened in 2010.

The Rooms
The Resort Studio Rooms are 32 sqm and are suitable for Twin or Queen size bedding and have limited views of the rainforest. Air-conditioned rooms with ceiling fan, plasma TV, ensuite marble tiled bathroom with shower, tea and coffee facilities, small desk and mini bar fridge. Guests can use the shared guest laundry.

The Ocean Suites, sleeping up to four adults, are spacious one bedroom suites with separate dining and balcony with filtered water views. These have a generous balcony, kitchenette consisting of microwave, toaster and full-size fridge plus tea and coffee facilities. Air-conditioned with ceiling fans in both rooms, queen size bed, plasma TV, separate lounge and dining area, ensuite black marble tiled bathroom with shower.

Located on the top floor, the Welcome Bay Suites, boast ocean views plus a large balcony. They are fully self-contained and have a a full kitchen, crockery and cooking utensils, large fridge freezer, hotplates and oven, microwave, dishwasher, guest laundry, iron and ironing board, toaster, tea and coffee facilities. Air-conditioned with ceiling fans, in both rooms, Queen size bed, plasma TV, lounge and dining area, en-suite black marble tiled bathroom with shower.

The Two Bedroom Suite, sleeping 4-6 guests, consists of an Ocean Suite and a Resort Studio Room adjoining with a shared entrance, kitchenette and balcony. The kitchenette consists of microwave, toaster and full-size fridge plus tea and coffee facilities. Air-conditioned with ceiling fans in both rooms, 2 plasma TV’s, shared lounge and dining area, ensuite black marble tiled bathroom with shower. Please note these rooms are not interconnected but adjoining with a common breezeway.

Boasting beautiful views across Welcome Bay, the Beach Cabin offers a queen bedroom and separate twin bedroom. It features a generous balcony, plasma TV, tea and coffee facilities. The cabins are located right on the beach. Air-conditioned with ceiling fans, Queen size bed and separate bedroom with twin beds. The Cabins are ideal for a romantic getaway or a family with small children. Guests may use the shared guest laundry.

Nestled in the rain forest and overlooking the Bay, the Castaway Cottage is a stand alone two bedroom house, including a Jacuzzi and large outdoor deck. The cottage consists of two bedrooms (Queen in Master and 2x Singles in 2nd Bedroom), kitchen, spacious living/dining area, laundry facilities, two person Jacuzzi and large outdoor deck with arguably the best views the resort has to offer over Welcome Bay. The cottage is a short walk from the resort and is located on the beach front. This room sleeps up to 6 guests; additional 2 guests can sleep on a sofa bed.

These Butterfly bungalows are set amongst the rainforest and are located near the campground and close to the Welcome Bay Beach. They offer couples and families a self-contained option away from the resort. Each stand-alone bungalow offers bedding for maximum of 2 adults and up to 3 children, with a queen bed, bunk beds and a fold out bed suitable for a young child. Features include a small internal food preparation area with a mini bar fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, plus a covered outdoor deck area with tables and chairs, large Esky and Webber BBQ. Plates, cutlery and basic cooking items are available plus BBQ utensils. Bungalows are serviced weekly or on check out. Guests can use the resort guest laundry (for a small fee) and a clothesline is provided.

The Facilities
The facilities include Zephyr Restaurant, resort pool, spa, a swim-up pool bar, tour desk, in-room and poolside massage services, a movie theatre, games room, table tennis and kids playroom. WiFi is available at the hotel reception at a small fee (please note due to the location of the island internet access can be interrupted). Fitzroy Island has licensed premises and bringing guests own alcohol is not permitted onto the island.

Zephyr Restaurant is open daily for buffet breakfast. At night the outdoor terraces come alive with diners enjoying the alfresco settings for a la carte dining. The menu is modern Australian, using locally sourced ingredients with nightly specials available. A large Pacific Islands bar with a 70’s structural theming, situated right on the beach front, about 100 metres from the resort buildings, south of the main creek.

Foxy’s Bar has a casual cafe style food menu and provides a wide range of food and drink options including kids meals and coffee.

The General Store is adjacent to Foxy’s and has a range of packaged food, drinks and general needs including pies, sandwiches, ice-creams, BBQ packs, soft drinks and sunblock.

The Dive Shop has all you need to explore the beautiful coral reefs surrounding the island. From beginner dives to night dives, for the novice to the experienced, the area is full of the wonders the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. The shop also hires out snorkel gear, stinger suits, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and offers glass bottom boat tours.
