Cicada Lodge is located inside Nitmiluk National Park, 300km south of Darwin and 32km from Katherine town centre, and home to Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge. The Gorge comprises a system of 13 immense gorges carved over the millenia by the Katherine River through the ancient stone country of the region. More than a location of beautiful landscapes, the gorges hold great cultural value for the Jawoyn people. For these traditional owners, Nitmiluk refers to a cicada dreaming place – the place where the spirits of creation abide.

Cicada Lodge is core to the future of the Jawoyn and has a strong commitment to the training and employment of the local people. Eco-accredited Indigenous guides run the Gorge cruises and tours providing commentary on the region sharing their knowledge of the local flora and fauna as well, ancient stories creation and Jawoyn life, enabling visitors to embrace a journey of learning and discovery in this spiritual and spectacular part of Nitmiluk's Top End.

The Rooms
All 18 rooms of the Lodge are air conditioned and feature full length louvered doors to the private balconies, allowing guest the choice of opening their room to the sounds and sights of the native bush. Each room has views out across the distinct sandstone country above the gorge. All rooms feature Indigenous artwork from local artists – the rich colours blending with the more modern design and fittings.

The Facilities
Facilities include an outdoor pool, restaurant, room service, concierge and airport transfers available on request. A key element of the Cicada dining adventure is the Chef’s Menu which will feature a specialty dish of the Chef’s choice, based on the season and the availability of quality local produce. The Chef’s Menu allows guests to sample and experience dishes that are truly unique to the region.
